A New Kitchen Is Home for the Holidays

Given current events, it’s safe to say we’re all eagerly anticipating the holiday season, although we may be celebrating them a little differently this year.

For our clients in Prospect, this joyful time will look and feel better than ever. They have a beautiful new kitchen that flows seamlessly into the family and dining rooms. The new configuration creates the ideal setting for entertaining as well as cozy family time in front of the fireplace. Perfectly appointed and designed for welcoming friends and family, the open concept layout is ideal for holiday gatherings and more.

Form & Function

Whether prepping a mouth-watering family supper or assembling snacks for a gathering with close friends, having enough space to chop, mix, stir, or baste without colliding with guests is essential. Our client’s large kitchen island provides ample counter space for multiple people to work, as well as a seating area situated away from the meal prep zone.

In addition to workspace, the spacious island provides extra storage, and creates a buffer between the work zone and the rest of the space without isolating the cooks, allowing everyone to gather without hindering meal prep. It also has convenient electrical outlets built in for using small appliances like a stand mixer or food processor. A step away, our home chefs have two wall ovens ready to go into action. In the work zone, cleanup goes quickly — it’s a quick, no-step pass from the deep sink to the dishwasher.

The beverage center on the far wall is it’s own zone, again close to the cooks — but not too close. An under-counter beverage fridge holds the perfect pairing, while the shelves above keep spirits close at hand for pre-dinner cocktails. There’s also counter space for a quick shot of espresso with dessert.

Look & Feel

This new kitchen looks as great as it works — which is always a challenge our designers are up for. Because of its central location, it acts as a hub, uniting the light-filled dining room’s wall of windows with warm and cozy family space. Making all of those different rooms work together is incredibly important, and shows up in the design details that make this kitchen truly outstanding.

The comfortable family room features a striking natural stone fireplace with rustic wood mantel, flanked by built-in shelves and storage — echoed in the white cabinets in the kitchen.

That rustic wood mantel is complemented by the flooring and the same hardwood used in the inlaid tray ceiling above the island, as well as the on-trend and handy open wood shelves.
