Black & White: A Sophisticated Prospect First-Floor Remodel

The Louisville Tour of Remodeled Homes is coming up on August 13th & 14th, and we’re very excited that a recent Bailey remodel will be one of the showcased homes! We hope you’ll check out all the homes on this year’s Tour, but if you can’t, we think this bold black & white masterpiece is too good to miss. Here’s some background on the project and a glimpse into the newly remodeled space.

Our client purchased her parent’s Prospect home nestled in the picturesque Bridgepointe subdivision, and although it was filled with treasured memories, it was time to start fresh with a new style and function to make it a better fit for her and her husband.

Crafting a Chef’s Kitchen

Since one of the homeowners is a chef, there were high expectations for the kitchen. The original space was closed-in and didn’t live up to its storage potential. The existing range hood just recirculated air, and a higher-functioning setup was required for the amount of cooking that takes place.

Results:

We simplified this space and gave it a clean, modern look. The enlarged island is big enough to seat guests, prep food, and provide storage. White and gold accented state-of-the-art appliances enhance the décor while providing a professional-grade cooking experience. The range hood now serves as a focal point and a striking contrast to the all-white cabinets, convenient drawers, and elegant countertops. Finally, the opened space made room for a beverage area where our clients and their guests can craft cocktails and other refreshments.

Family Room

Requests:

In the family room, our clients needed to update the fireplace surround and get rid of the carpeting. They also wanted more aesthetically pleasing storage and an overall inviting look where their guests would feel welcome and comfortable.

Results:

Now, the entryway to the family room is flanked by beautiful built-in shelving that can display keepsakes, store books, board games, or blankets, and also serves as a unique work of art. The new fireplace surround follows the contrasting black-and-white theme and incorporates touches of gold with the screen. Gorgeous hardwood flooring replaced the tired carpet, bringing warmth and a refreshing update.

Master Bathroom

Requests:

The existing master bathroom had a nice-sized footprint but was overwhelmed by an oversized platform tub. The shower, on the other hand, felt cramped and uncomfortable. Our clients were looking for better use of space and an elegant, sophisticated look.

Results:

We replaced the platform tub with a luxurious soaking tub and used existing closet space to expand the shower to a spa-like retreat. Drawers under the sink and makeup vanities provide lots of storage and make it easy to keep this room tidy and organized. The white color palette with gold fixtures and hardware looks stunning and classic.

With better function and an updated style, this house feels much more like home. Do you need help making your home a better fit? Contact us to get started!
